POETRY and SPOKEN WORDS

THE ABC MANTRA

Here they come again…
Like my again, again and again
A mastered gimmick,
The crowed sweeping mantra:
Abc…!!! Change!
Like this, that and that…
It eats deep, deep and deeper
Heavens promised
Hell let loose
This and that, they call it
Evil and wicked, I call it
Public turns private
White turns black
They fly, we trek,
They merry
We lament
Monkey dey work
Baboon dey chop
Which way out?
Kill them all… the masses echoed.
That’s the real CHANGE….ABC….!

SAMBISA DREAMER
Bombing and killing...
And you call that living?
That kind of sound
That makes hearts pound

Ears and people marvel
Humans turn Rubble
Strong breeds and dreams
In seconds, such beam  dims
Ambitions in hostage...
Aspirations in mortgage
Echoes of fears
Echoes of tears

Girls in suspense
Government in affluence
Seconds turn minutes
Minutes turn hours

Hours... days
Days... weeks
Weeks... months
Months... YEARS?

Oh! SAMBISA!
Forest of Dreamers
They need some helpers
Will it be some JACK BAUERS?

 That November
Even my elder brother could forgo his cherished morsel of poundy?
I  won't be left out! he screamed
Pim pim pim
Pam pam pam
Vehicles, bikes, horned, screeched, and jerked
Fire on! commuters shouted
The drivers twisted, turned, damned the fears and risk
To where? no one asked
Aaaaaah! it occurred to me
I knew it!
The day had come
The hour had come
That moment all waited for
Africa,
Antarctica
Asia
Australia
South America
North America
Europa
All in Calabar
I won't be left out !.... I mimicked my brother
Lets walk the Aisle of dreams
Even my great grand-mother with her walking stick said YES!

FOUND
Like Hector, Ulysses, Achilles, Spartacus and more...
You , i have fought for
You, i have journeyed for
Followed like a sinking star

Rivers and oceans
Deserts and mountains
Highlands and islands
Changes in latitude
Changes in attitude

Sun rises
Sun sets
Nights fall
Dawns break...
Thick and thin

Yet
I searched...
Decades come and go
Hopes frail
Strengths fail

Suddenly......
My lock and key
I FOUND
In this aisle...
THOLAKELE... a dream come true.

AJANTALA...the poem

Ahhhhh! Ajantala! Ajantala!!
Those rhythms that make me want to
Even when the beats go staccato
I hear them
I feel them

Ajantala
The rhythm of the east,
Rhythm of the west
North and south
Made by the strong breeds
Not by the beasts

Ajantala
 The rhythm of the willing
Not for the weakling
I hear you
I feel you

Ajantala
Those rhythms that tickle
Making one wriggle and wiggle
Those beats that nurture
Paving the future

Ajantala!
Your rhythms pierce mountains, cross oceans
Create dreams, make dreams
Ajantala
Your rhythm i shall eat, drink...
Walk and dream
AJANTALA !...My talking Drum .

PUNCTURED VIRGINITY
Again, again and again
I am bound in cuffs and chain
Again, again, and again,
Their judgment I await in detain
Again, again and again,
The throw-back flashes in disdain
again, again, and again,
I ponder and wonder then his gain,
Again, again and again,
My hidden part, his regular domain,
Again, again and again,
Any refusal dished me battered stain
and night and nights I wriggled in pain
Again, again and again,
My gone first flesh, an eternal pain
Again,again and again
His Threats and threats again,
"Say jack to any, no school again"
Again, again and again
For future's sake, I contain the pain
Again, again and again,
Tears ceased to flow again,
Voice ceased to protest again
Again, again and again,
My Father's brother again
Guilty or not guilty the Judge yelled again
"if he lives again
I shall stab him again, again and again".
