THE SCHEMER 3
…"Why did I wake him up to
this embarrassment? Did I do wrong in waking him to behold his love who ensured our vigil for a Godot? Am I
responsible for what has happened? Why is my friend so weak?" These rhetorics
make riotous thoughts in Ken's head. He had only stopped by last night to have
a discussion with Mike but could not initiate the conversation, no thanks to
the present situation. Someone just has to break the deafening silence! "How did you get into this humiliation,
Mike? Are you not a man? Did you just let Gina slap you and walk away? Tell me,
how can you believe that condom was... Ken stops as he realizes Mike is about
to do the usual - warn him against meddling in their affair. Letting Gina have
her way all the time is totally wrong.
There really had to be an explanation. Ken is convinced his friend is more than
this, definitely. He recalls Mike's boast about the inability of any girl
causing him any mental stress, let alone humiliation. As if struck by what
people call “divine inspiration”, Ken resumes, "Look, Mike, I don't care
what you will feel or say, It may cost me our friendship, that's fine! But I
just need to talk .What's happening to you? How can you keep mute in all of
these? You're acting all dumb! Your girl
didn't turn in last night, she has no explanation to that, she slaps you so
hard, and makes you believe a used ..."Will you just shut up?" Mike
cuts in. He continues almost in a suppressed anger through some forming tears,
"Gina pays for this space and my school fees too! He yells out! Now does
that make sense to you?” Ken is dumbstruck; he possibly can’t believe his
friend who lives “large” on Campus is saying this. Almost replying in one of his Lecturer's Cliché manner of expression, "Well, I hope it does” … Ken
Certainly needs more conviction in order to water this down his throat…There must
be more to this. STAY ON TO THIS BLOG FOR MORE EVERY TUESDAY.

The Schemer - Episode 2.
...Even Gina was shocked! Mike
and Ken stood still, and their wide opened mouths could be likened to a Yoruba man
stereotype expression. "You can't just stand there and stare at us! What
is this? And how did you come about it?" Mike queried. Another shock
reaching Ken whose eyes pans from Gina to his friend, Mike, in disbelief. Not
for anything else, but for the fact that his friend has spoken as a man for
once! One thing was certain, Ken was happy his friend was finally up to reality
and one could read the "Yo, that's
my Gee and my Niggy" expression on his face. He almost made a "thumbs
up" sign but consciously tightened his fist by his side when he reasoned
"but to what end?" For how long can his friend sustain his newly
acquired guts? As if to justify his
skepticism, Gina turned the table just in a flash. The swift movement of her
hand sent reverberation to Mike's ear. "Never talk to me in such a manner
again!" She added with a long hiss of finality typical of a quarrelsome
Nigerian girl. Mike froze for a second as the slap must have altered some
default settings in him. Ken on the other hand was more quiet than a graveyard.
No movement, no breathing. He surely must have lost the courage to fan his
friend's "one minute manhood exercise". Within him, Mike just
experienced what a Nigerian youth would tag "She don change am for
am". All these happened so fast.
Gina bent, picked the object from the rug. She brandished it before Mike who
was literally deaf and dumb. "This condom is what we used yesterday for
the HIV-AIDS Campaign of WHO, so, stop thinking silly!" Mike's nod in
acceptance was more rhythmic than a Lizard's. Oh, not again! Ken rethought. How
on earth could his friend believe a used condom containing a milky fluid was
for HIV-AIDS Campaign! What could be the truth about a lie? Stay glued to
